Partnership with Saucony for circular economy

Further advancing its commitment to sustainability and waste reduction, global performance running lifestyle brand Saucony has announced the launch of the Saucony x cycora collection. This is a line of performance running tops made partially using cycora material, a regenerated polyester sourced from textile waste that would otherwise have ended up in landfills. The men’s and women’s collection consists of a fitted tank, crop top, short sleeve and singlet, with each piece using a component that is made of up to 23% cycora material. Saucony IP, Holdings LLC, Lexington, MA/USA, is the first running brand to collaborate with cycora by Ambercycle Inc., Los Angeles, CA/USA, creating a performance apparel line.  
Ambercycle’s mission is to end ‘waste’ in fashion, by creating the ecosystem for infinite textiles. Synthetic textiles possess attributes such as durability and longevity, and Ambercycle wants to break them down and build them back up at the molecular level. These attributes are harmful when synthetic materials have short lifespans and are sent to the landfill or environment.

However, synthetics excel when they are responsibly kept above ground and in circulation. The durability of the molecules allows for infinite regeneration.
This eliminates the need to extract raw resources from the earth and to send valuable materials to the landfill. This process refines ‘waste’ rather than refining oil. While the concept may seem intuitive, there are a lot of challenges that have made this difficult to accomplish in the past. One of these challenges is that most textiles are blends of many different substances.
